Foyer | Study | Curiosity Room | Kitchen | Maritime Room | Garden | Japanese Gallery | Art Studio | Attic Walkthrough: Room 7, The Japanese Gallery: You can watch my video for this section or continue on for my step-by-step guide. 1. Open the artifact to get a mechanical cicada. Open its wings. 2. Go back to the Japanese Gallery. Place the cicada down on the table by the dragons. 3. Two sort of windows will rise up. Use the eyepiece to look through the left one and pull the dragon’s head to the white bar. Then, zoom out and zoom in on the dragon’s head without the eyepiece. Close his jaw around the white bar. Then, equip the eyepiece again and look through the window and lift his head up so it breaks the chains holding the structure down. 4. Remove the eyepiece and rotate the wheel at the bottom of the structure so it faces the right dragon. Equip the eyepiece again and pull the right dragon forward to the white bar. Remove the eyepiece and clamp is jaw around the bar, then equip the eyepiece again and pull his head back to open a drawer. Take the miniature pagoda roof. 5. Place the unfinished wooden sculpture back on the pagoda and move the little round disc to the center. Place the roof on it and then open the pincers again so you can take the unfinished pagoda sculpture. 6. Go back to the dragons and place the sculpture on the indentation that matches the bottom of it. 7. Use the eyepiece to look through the window again and move both dragon heads to the white bars. Clamp their jaws around the bars and then use two fingers to lift both their heads up at the same time. Don’t lift them all the way, though. Line up the blue doorway with the blue doorway behind it. 8. Remove the eyepiece and turn the wheel on the structure to draw the bridge across to the other door. 9. Use the eyepiece to go inside and cross the bridge. This next puzzle is really easy. Just turn the two wheels to release the miniature pagoda roof and spire and take it. 10. Take the unfinished pagoda sculpture and place it back on the big pagoda. Move the slider to the right and place the roof and spire on top of it. The pagoda will expand, revealing a new puzzle. 11. Here, you need to rotate all the white pieces so each two are touching each other. If you get it right, their lights should turn on and the fan will start spinning. Then do the same for the red pieces. 12. Take the artifact and complete the Japanese Gallery! Click here to continue to the next page of the walkthrough, the Art Studio. *** Note: Sometimes a promo code is provided for a game, but it does not affect the review in any way. I like the variety of puzzles and the accompanying hint system, which is perfect at pointing you in the right direction if you’ve missed something obvious (“There’s a paper on the floor?! I totally missed that! ”); forgotten something relevant (“That’s right - that symbol is totally in the area I haven’t been back to for a week in real time. ”); or just aren’t great at this particular flavor of puzzle (“Oh... I guess that is the same shape on bottom? Really? Well, okay. ”) It’s amazing for nudging in you the right direction without assuming you’re an idiot. Only once did I have to check online for something I just could not find and that was more a result of trying to play in sunlight and not being able to see that part of the screen well enough. I completely enjoy the very kinesthetic nature of moving the puzzles around in space and the magical and entertaining way they unfold. I like the meta-plot of the null and the Lovecraftian lurking horror feel. They’re not written to be deep and detailed, but the terror of what you can’t quite see works very well in this setting and attempts to over-explain would hinder rather than help. Entertaining, though sadless, not endless. If you like Japanese puzzle boxes and Lovecraft, this will probably be your jam. 100%, A+, 10/10, Two thumbs up... This was a thoroughly enjoyable installment in The Room series! It was a challenge, but not so difficult that I felt annoyed or wanted to give up. The intertwining of so many rooms was hard to keep up with, but that was what made it so interesting! Each time I got into a rut, I would have an “a-ha! ” moment, realizing I just needed to go to another room and try again there. The moments requiring the eyepiece were much more varied than usual, which added to the entertainment, rather than a detracting obstacle. As always, stunning graphics, and I absolutely LOVED the mechanic of breaking the sigils/glass to enter the rooms, it was both beautiful and satisfying, a really excellent use of fantastic visuals. I also really admired the way everything scaled between smaller models and larger rooms, without losing any of the beautiful visual qualities, and feeling very realistic in scale. I downloaded this as soon as I saw it and finished it in around 2 days, I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait for more, I kind of wish I had paced myself! I never buy any games because of the abundance of free ones out on the market, but The Room was the first-ever (and only) exception to that rule when it first came out, and I never hesitate to purchase the next installment, I am never disappointed. Stellar job!! Well made but... I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the games from this developer. The room Series is a fantastic set of games and Fireproof has set themselves up as a quality game developer. QUALITY. It is a visual orgasm of quality. The rooms prequels 1, 2 and 3 were all wonderful connections between each other. However, you will enjoy Old Sins if you look at it as its own game. Now, as much as I enjoyed the game, I do have some critiques. There was the occasional anticlimactic moment where I worked hard to get inside some object, anticipating something spectacular (like I’ve come to expect from this developer) just to find one easily accessible object waiting for me. One of my favorite parts of the game ended this way, and I was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t more to it - (The ultimate decision to the four star rating out of five). But most of the time, there’s proper payoff for your efforts. And again, any disappointment comes from the high level of quality I’ve come to expect from Fireproof. Knowing what they’ve made in the past, it’s hard not to want or expect them to outdo themselves in every aspect. For instance, after all the bonus content In The Room Three that could have been it’s own game, players might be sad that there’s no bonus content or alternate endings here. But thank you, Fireproof, for another amazing sequel. Information Seller Fireproof Studios Limited Size 1. 1 GB Compatibility Requires iOS 10. 0 or later. The Room: Old Sins for PC -- Windows/MAC OS I think it is very rare to see a game like The Room: Old sins published by Fireproof Games. Why? Because not everybody can make so good puzzle with such an atmosphere. The tense and the feeling of horror is really impressive. But let`s make a review and see what this game has to offer. The Room series of mobile games has always been very good at one particular thing: presenting you with strange objects, and then letting you manipulate them to uncover their secrets. It’s a concept that works incredibly well on a touchscreen device, and the series’s haunting atmosphere only adds to the mystery. Over the course of three games, that formula, despite its singular focus, hasn’t lost its appeal. In fact, with the latest game — The Room: Old Sins, which is out now on iOS — developer Fireproof has crafted what may be the best version yet. Old Sins opens with you, an investigator, exploring the attic of a dark, creepy house for some kind of artifact. Your first main task is to switch on a floodlight, which then illuminates a huge, immaculately detailed dollhouse. It’s here where the game really takes place. The Room games have always been about objects; you’re presented with a 3D rendition of a puzzle box, which you then need to touch and turn, feeling your way along to find the hidden switches and levers that will let you open it up. In Old Sins, the dollhouse has essentially been turned into one massive, intricately connected puzzle box, and it’s quite breathtaking once you start to understand the breadth of it. The Room: Old Sins Gameplay and Review And so, we are in the gameplay section and now I will talk about the gameplay and the game itself. It starts out simple. You replace tiny statues and open up tiny gates, unlocking tiny doors with more mysteries behind them. But the key to Old Sins is a magical eyeglass that lets you enter the rooms of the house, and explore even further. It’s actually a fully functional house, one where all of the rooms connect to one another. There are still small puzzle box-like mysteries to solve. I spent the better part of an afternoon just trying to unlock the sliding cover on an old writing desk, by searching every corner for hidden switches and using strange keys to open up drawers. There’s a pleasing tactile nature to the series that is in full effect in Old Sins. You can run your finger along the edges of a bookshelf, twist the odd connections of a machine, or just spin a globe around with a touch. It feels great, and gives the puzzles a somewhat playful nature; while they all have a specific solution, you can experiment, poking, prodding, and messing with perspective. (The game also includes a helpful, but not overbearing hint system in case you get stuck. ) Pros Amazing graphics Great atmosphere Good puzzles Cons It is hard to find any cons when you like something. Conclusion: What can I say? I think that this is one great game!
